Softly, softly

Do you have dark blonde to medium brown hair with eyes that have a soft and muted quality to them like Kylie Minogue? Because there is little contrast in your face, you will look your best in colours that are not too bright. Remember, you want people to see YOU and not the colour you are wearing.

High contrast colours – i.e. light and dark together will simply overpower you. Wearing colours from the same family of colour, such as all blues or all greens will give you a tone on tone effect for an elegant and slimming look. When you are choosing accessories like shoes and bags, they should blend with your outfit and not in shades that add high contrast. Jewellery with a matte surface as opposed to shiny will complement your look. Choosing fabrics with texture will further soften your look. Black is not in your palette – if you must wear it, keep it away from your face or soften the black with a textured scarf, faux fur stole or, maybe a string of pearls ala Audrey Hepburn! With your makeup, your gentle, soft eyes should not be overpowered with bright colours. Steer clear of black eyeliner – a granite eye pencil will add definition and look flattering on you. Why not try a slick of lip gloss for a subtle look?

You will soon be “Spinning Around” on the dance floor and bopping to “The Locomotion”!

KEEP IT SUNNY SIDE UP THIS HOLIDAY SEASON Well, the weather certainly isn’t sunny in Manchester right now but if you can’t have the sunshine, you can BE the sunshine! Yellow, the colour associated with all things happy and bright, is often viewed as a ‘tricky’ shade to wear. It is certainly true that yellow... […]
