Is one of your New Year’s Resolutions to get to the gym more? If the answer to this question is YES, then please tell me your workout wardrobe isn’t suffering from ABD (Abundant Black Disorder)! My heart sinks when I enter a class and I am confronted with a sea of grey and black. How boring is that! You can’t miss me when I enter a class that’s for sure!

Whether your workout of choice is Body Conditioning, Zumba or Yoga, you will definitely feel more motivated if you add some colour to your workout wardrobe! I guarantee just by changing the colour of your outfit, you will smile, you will feel better and look fabulous – plus you will cheer up everyone around you too!

Your workout wardrobe doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, although there are lots of high end choices, there are also many budget alternatives that won’t break the bank.

So, how do you create a workout wardrobe in which you feel great, is comfortable and is appropriate to your workout?

Choose your bottoms by what feels most comfortable. Do you prefer a slouchy yoga pant or something fitted and shiny. Do you like knee length, capri or full length?


For those who are a little adventurous, why not try a print or sequins? I have my eye on these animal print bottoms



Of course, the secret to a comfy workout outfit is layers so choose a colourful tank top and a hoodie or zip up sweatshirt to keep you cosy until you are warmed up.



You can experiment by playing with the lengths – i.e. a long tank top with a cropped sweatshirt over the top looks great!

If you are conscious of your bottom half, stick to plain, dark colours below the waist and add some interest on the top. 

When was the last time you bought new trainers? Maybe it is time to take a look at what’s on offer. There are lots of fun designs to choose from.


Remember, don’t just look at specialist shops either, lots of fashion shops such as H&M, New Look, Forever 21 etc also have a great range of workout gear at very reasonable prices. And also, at this time of year, there are plenty of sales on, so you might just get a bargain in the process.

I sometimes add a bright scarf to my workout outfit, depending on how chilly it is and I always add a bit of bling to my workout clothes – even just a pair of colourful bracelets. Of course, a touch of Colour Me Beautiful Creme Blush and a slick of lip gloss always adds a touch of glam without looking too overdone.



So, remember! Keep colourful!
