Unfortunately, I arrived as everyone was finishing lunch and I am so sorry I did as it looked delicious. I was greeted by a smiling Jade and handed a glass of prosecco – always a good start. The venue was the Castlefield Rooms and there were various stations around the room – a nail bar, a makeup station, the Beauty Kitchen etc. There were also some representatives for Dr Organic there to show us their SLS and paraben free products. I headed straight for the nail bar and received a lovely manicure from Bianca. I originally went for a coral but then decided a browny red would coordinate better with my outfit. The one I chose was called Sam by Zoya and can be best described as a dark, saturated red crème with strong warm brown tones. Zoya is the first to remove toxic ingredients such as toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and DBP (dibutyl phthalate) from its formulations.
I didn’t get the chance to get my makeup done but the Beautiful Movements mineral based makeup looked so gorgeous and colourful. It is cruelty free and BUAV approved. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. I can’t wait to try my Beautiful Movements Mineral Eye Shadow in Emerald Showers. It is a lovely sparkly green colour and looks highly pigmented.
Do you know, I honestly didn’t realise how many beauty products Holland and Barrett stocks! I have previously associated the store with vitamins, supplements, health foods etc. I have since visited the Manchester store and bought several items including a Dr Organic Rose Otto eye serum which i will review in another post. The range online is massive!
I learned a lot about Holland and Barrett’s principles throughout the day. They really are true pioneers in focussing on cruelty free cosmetics, environmental responsibility and natural ingredients.
We were then given a demonstration of the Beauty Kitchen Create Your Own Lip Balm Kit (after topping up my prosecco of course!) on how to make your own lip balm. The handy little tin gives you all the ingredients you need to make 4 lip balms which you can either keep yourself or give to your friends. What a fab idea! I also found out that in the Chester store you can make your own bath bomb and body scrubs!
All in all it was a very informative and fun day! I will definitely be looking to Holland and Barrett in the future for my beauty needs! Thanks to Holland and Barrett and Iprospect for the invite and also for the generous goodies I received. Also credit and thank you to Carl Sukonik for providing the images (apart from the nail one!) in this post.
