The term “Vunk” was created by Donatella Versace to express her take on this season’s punk trend. Whereas Punk was adopted by the anti-establishment of the decade, “Vunk” is more luxurious and seductive. So it is basically a more grown up and refined version of Punk.

Versace’s Autumn 2013 collection was fetishised using skin tight dresses and body suits embellished with metal spikes. She also used a lot of vinyl and incorporated pleated miniskirts and kilts.

A recent visitor to my Studio in Didsbury was Mel aged 21 who was stuck in a rut and had absolutely no idea how to find herself an image. I thought a more edgy “Vunk” look would suit her perfectly. I showed her the best way to follow the “Vunk” trend by using bold accessories, studded shoes and bags. Ear cuffs are very on trend this year so I added this one from Forever 21 plus a spiked gold bracelet from Stella and Dot. The River Island faux leather jacket is really edgy and I love the contrasting material at the hem and sleeves. The rip and repair jeans are from Fat Face – they are generously cut on the thighs and taper to a narrow leg so very a flattering fit! The Juicy Couture studded belt is a bargain at only £12.

My must buy of this season is a pair of chunky heeled ankle boots – comfortable, go with anything, on trend – you NEED a pair. These ones from ASOS are perfect.

Finally a cute little tartan back pack (also from Forever21) to finish the look. Vunked!

THE colour for Autumn/Winter 2017 is red. The catwalks were awash with it at the A/W ’17 shows and as it slowly starts to hit the High Street I’m offering you my expert advice on how to wear it. It is the color of sexuality and can stimulate deeper and more intimate passions in... […]

KEEP IT SUNNY SIDE UP THIS HOLIDAY SEASON Well, the weather certainly isn’t sunny in Manchester right now but if you can’t have the sunshine, you can BE the sunshine! Yellow, the colour associated with all things happy and bright, is often viewed as a ‘tricky’ shade to wear. It is certainly true that yellow... […]
