Drop Dead Red! Scarlet, traffic light, crimson or ketchup – whatever you want to call it, there’s no denying this Autumn’s stand-out colour trend. From Dior to Marni, every designer was working the hue in head-to-toe forms, cutting some of the boldest figures of the season and doing Chris de Burgh proud in the process.
But for extra fashion points this season, THE way to wear red is teamed with pink! The simplest and easiest way to wear this trend is by donning a colour block dress in red or pink and keep your accessories neutral. A full-on head-to-toe pink look may make you feel a bit Barbie – the key is to mix up the shades. You will create a much edgier outfit by adding a few splashes of red here and there.
Be sure to choose your best reds, so if you have a warm undertone, shades of tomato red and salmon pink will be gorgeous. For all those with a cool undertone, a cassis red with hot pink is the way to go.
I love these two dresses! The first one from Asos has a super flattering cowl neck line – perfect if you have a large bust. The Coast dress has lots of stretch as it is made of jersey – great for all you Full Hourglasses – especially with the ruched effect at the waist.
A great way to embrace the colour of the season is in your accessories or ‘finishing touches’. There’s nothing chicer than a classic red manicure and who can imagine anything more glamorous than a pop of red lipstick?
