Last night was all about pampering, fizz, canapes and lots of laughs.

The venue was the sleek and sophisticated Tom’s Champagne Bar in House of Fraser, Manchester. The event was to promote the work of Dress for Success, Manchester (more of this later) and the ladies from the Bobbi Brown counter gave a fantastic demo on how to do a smokey eye.

The ladies were served glasses of fizz and an amazing array of tasty canapes as they mingled and chatted. Then onto the demo, the subject most of us were interested in was how to get the perfect flick with eyeliner and I certainly picked up a few tips there. Sorry for the poor quality pic – the lighting wasn’t the best.

This was a lovely, relaxed event. Thanks to everyone for coming and I hope you enjoyed it! A huge thank you to the ladies who donated clothing on the night too, your support is greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend you pay a visit to Tom’s Champagne bar for excellent service from Ian and Sophie. A glass of champagne served with 3 delicious canapes costs just £10.95. But the best time to visit is Monday to Wednesday 3-6pm when cocktails are half price yay!

Don’t forget to visit the Bobbi Brown counter on your way out – the girls have excellent expertise and are also very lovely too!

So, Dress for Success. They are a non-profit organisation that provides professional clothing, interview training and a support network for women seeking employment. Basically any woman looking for a job can come along to their lovely boutique and receive a Personal Styling session from one of the volunteers and they leave with a complete outfit to wear to their interview. One in two of the women who visit are successful at their job interview and they can then return to choose more outfits to see them through to their first pay packet. They also provide interview training and a support network. They rely totally on financial contributions, volunteers’ time and clothing donations from wonderful individuals, organisations and retailers to enable them to change lives.

I noticed their Tweets some time ago now and really wanted to be involved in this fantastic concept and this was my first event representing Dress for Success. I am proud to be part of such a strong team of women and look forward to lots more successful events.

If you are clearing out your wardrobe ready for the coming season, Dress for Success will be grateful to receive donations at their boutique – they desperately need good quality clothes, shoes, handbags, jewellery – and you will receive the friendliest of welcomes! Alternatively, you can contact me to arrange collection if you wish. 07801 341526

I’ll definitely look them up – I’m just down the road from Manchester myself. Bobbi Brown is my favorite make up brand too. It sounded like a great event 🙂

Sounds fab, I love a glass of champagne. May have to persuade hubby to take me into Manchester for a grown up treat.

Sounds like a really nice night and what a great idea! Interviews can be so intimidating it’s a really great idea to give women just a bit of support and confidence. I’m afraid I don’t have much to donate by way of interview outfits though.. as a stay at home mum I haven’t worn much other than jeans for about 3 years now!
